LouGrass: A Celebration of Kentucky Music
Enjoy free Bluegrass by the Cane Run Bluegrass Band on Friday, October 4th, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Cambria Hotel Louisville Whiskey Row.
The Cane Run Bluegrass Band from Lexington, KY, has played together for the past eight years. With guitar, banjo, mandolin, and upright bass, each member brings thirty-plus years of playing and performing experience to the group. With influences from Flatt & Scruggs, J.D. Crowe & The New South, The Country Gentlemen, and The Seldom Scene, just to name a few, we play a wide variety of bluegrass music. Featuring traditional, gospel, and original material, with three and four-part vocal harmonies and distinctive arrangements, Cane Run is sure to be a memorable addition to your event.
David Hewitt is the lead singer and guitarist for Cane Run. He was born in Lexington, KY, and his many musical influences have included Tony Rice, Charlie Waller, and Merle Haggard. David brings a strong lead vocal and guitar style to the group. He lives in Richmond, KY, with his wife Coleen and two daughters.
John Mattingly sings tenor and plays banjo for Cane Run. Born in Hazard, KY, his playing was strongly influenced by listening to Flatt & Scruggs and J.D. Crowe with Jimmy Martin. John lives in Lexington, KY, with his wife Claudia and two cats, Harley and Sydney.
Dan Bailey sings baritone and plays mandolin for Cane Run. He was born in Ohio, but his roots run deep in Casey County, KY. Dan developed a love for music, particularly bluegrass, and gospel while working as a disc jockey at the local radio station. He now makes his home in Lexington, KY, with his wife Carolyn.
Jack Willoughby plays bass for Cane Run. Born in Baltimore, MD, he has spent most of his life around bluegrass music. His late father, Jim, introduced him to his first jam session at fifteen. Jack is retired from the United States Navy and lives in Lexington, KY, with his wife, Lindsey, and two daughters.
